Eerik Heldna is returning to work at the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA). He will be working in the crisis preparedness office. There, he will deal with training exercises.
PPA stated that Heldna will be reinstated. Two court instances have acquitted him. Therefore, PPA does not need to suspend his service.
Heldna has not worked since June 28, 2023. At that time, he and others were suspected of a major crime. According to the prosecutor's office, false rotations occurred within PPA. These were done so that Heldna and others could receive special pensions.
Heldna received 60% of his regular salary over two years. The exact amount has not yet been calculated.
The Tallinn Circuit Court dismissed PPA's complaint. The court did not change the previous decision that overturned Heldna's dismissal.
Heldna was supposed to move from the Tax and Customs Board to the police. However, he was dismissed because he did not have a state secret clearance. This clearance was necessary for his new position.
The court ordered PPA to pay Heldna 1836 euros. This money covers his legal costs. Other costs remain the responsibility of the parties.
