Turu Street is an important street in Tartu. Cars drive fast there. The city wants to slow down the speed. The city wants cars to drive at 40 km/h.
Cyclists currently have difficulties. The city wants to build new bike lanes. Bike lanes will be built towards Emajõgi and Karlova. The bike lanes will be separate from cars.
The bike lanes on Turu Street will connect Sõpruse Bridge and Riia-Turu intersection. The Riia-Turu intersection will be rebuilt between 2028 and 2029.
The street reconstruction will cost a lot of money. The city will receive funding from external sources.
Construction will begin next year.
