The new rules come into force in October. The new rules state: political advertising must show who created it.
Estonia is the first country where elections will be held under the new rules. The Minister of Justice does not like the new rules. He says it does not help with Russian influence.
Parties are creating advertisements. Advertisers are calm. They say: similar rules exist elsewhere.
The media says: ads may disappear. Ads may move to social media. Google, Meta, and TikTok say: political ads are banned.
A media leader says: elections may become invisible. This is not good for democracy.
The Minister of Justice says: Estonia will not punish violators. They will provide advice and guidelines. The guidelines are on the ministry's website.
The rules take effect on October 10. The elections are on October 19.
