The Narva Museum Council decided to extend the director's contract. Maria Smorževskihh-Smirnova will now work for another five years.
The council did not hold another competition. They are satisfied with the current director.
Marina Šurupova said that a competition would be fair. She talks about how more should be said about Narva's history. But she has nothing bad to say about the director's work.
Krista Nelson said that it is difficult to find a good director in Narva. The current director is doing a good job.
The director's salary will increase. Currently, she receives 3,000 euros per month.
Nelson praised the director's work. Buildings have been renovated and roofs repaired at the museum. The museum is receiving more funding.
In the future, plans include renovating the art gallery and repairing the roof. New exhibitions will open. The exhibitions will discuss the Kreenholm industry.
The new contract begins on February 1, 2026.
