Tallinn's Kalaranna fish market will cease operations at the end of this year. The area is set to be renovated. For the new area, a swimming pool, saunas, sports halls, restaurants, cafes, and much more will be built. There are also plans for a seaside promenade and a yacht harbor.
Although many think the fish market will disappear, the projects foresee that the market will remain. This is guaranteed. Tallinn Deputy Mayors Margot Roose and Madle Lippus said that the market will be preserved.
Margot Roose added: "The area is being updated, but the fish market will be preserved. In winter, the sellers are cold; now, better conditions are being created for them."
The fish market will close its doors at the end of this year. Who will manage the new market after the renovation is still unknown. Arhitekt Must OÜ won the area renovation project.
