According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are nearly 3000 Estonian citizens in the Middle East. For example, many have gone on vacation during their children's school break.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that the main task of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to ensure the safety of Estonian citizens and their return home. He recommended that all Estonian citizens in the region inform the ministry about themselves.
Tsahkna emphasized that the ministry's website has contact details so people can indicate where they are staying. In cooperation with other European countries, people can be assisted if needed.
He also said that it is necessary to be very attentive, as the situation can change quickly.
The ministry invites all Estonian citizens in the Middle East to register their short-term stay on the ministry's website or by email at konsul@mfa.ee.
The ministry continuously updates information reflecting the situation in the Middle East region on its consular website and homepage.
If necessary, consular assistance can be obtained around the clock at the emergency phone number +372 5301 9999.
