The Estonian Information System Authority (RIA) reported that traffic from the Yandex network to Estonian websites decreased significantly on Sunday morning.
As of October 12, the number of requests from the Yandex network has decreased by 99.8% compared to September. This means there are approximately 420 times fewer requests.
Foreign media wrote that the attacks on Yandex also damaged the Kremlin's operations on the internet. According to RIA, it is still too early to say whether the activity of Russian cyberattacks will change.
RIA states that Yandex's problems do not significantly affect cyberattacks targeting Estonia. Other infrastructures not dependent on Yandex services are used to organize attacks.
RIA does not monitor Russian influence operations, such as social media bots and troll accounts. Therefore, RIA cannot confirm or deny claims that their activity has decreased.
Last week, Ukraine attacked three Yandex data centers. On Sunday, Yandex had to halt operations at a data center near Moscow after a drone attack. Data centers were also attacked on Thursday in Sasovo and on Friday in Kaluga.
Yandex is a technology company that also manages food delivery and taxi applications. Yandex said that data centers are crucial for the functioning of its services.
