Peeter Tali said that he does not agree with the criticism in the national defense report directed at former commanders of the Defence Forces. He stated: "I do not accept the attack on former commanders of the Defence Forces. The responsibility lies with politicians, not with the commanders of the Defence Forces."
Tali emphasized that the commanders of the Defence Forces are military advisors. Decisions are made by politicians, not by the commanders of the Defence Forces. He said: "I do not consider it correct to assess the commanders of the Defence Forces in the report."
Tali also mentioned that he distanced himself from the report several weeks ago. He said: "I did not have time to contribute to the report. Therefore, I am not satisfied with the result."
Tali did not agree with the claim that his criticism undermines the entire report. He said: "It is only a part of the report. There is a lot of constructive criticism there."
He did not go into details but emphasized that the report needs improvement. He said: "Currently, emotional controversy dominates the report. It should be more pragmatic."
Finally, Tali said: "I do not know if the commission will approve the report in its current form."
