On the evening of December 31, a water problem occurred in Tallinn. Water consumption was very high. In addition, the weather was bad, and the water in Lake Ülemiste froze quickly.
Tallinna Vesi asked people to save water. Unfortunately, this was not enough. The water network was overloaded.
Before the New Year, water consumption in Tallinn was particularly high. Bad weather and rapid freezing made the situation difficult. In at least some areas, water pressure may drop.
Employees of Tallinna Vesi are working to resolve the issue. They are trying to restore the water supply quickly. Water pressure did not drop in the Nõmme, Pirita, Maardu, and Saue areas.
Tallinna Vesi said that efforts to resolve the problem will continue. They hope that water pressure will be restored overnight. Kristiina Tamberg said that the situation in Tallinn is varied. In some areas, water pressure is normal, while in others it is dropping.
Nõmme and Pirita do not depend on the water from Lake Ülemiste. Therefore, the bad weather has not affected these areas.
