A Moscow court sentenced Maria Smorževskihh-Smirnova, the director of Narva Museum, to 10 years in prison.
The court found that she spread false information about the Russian military. She also rehabilitated Nazism. The prosecution sought a 12-year prison sentence for her. The court also banned her from managing websites for 5 years.
Smorževskihh-Smirnova has been on Russia's wanted list since the summer of 2024.
Russian investigators say she helped put up posters on the wall of Narva Castle. The posters featured an image of the Russian president and false information about his war crimes.
For the past two years, a poster with the text "Putin is a war criminal" has been hanging on the wall of Narva Castle. The poster was put up by Narva Museum.
This campaign began in 2023. The reason was that a screen was installed in Ivangorod. It showed a Victory Day concert with propaganda songs.
