Kalev Stoicescu has been the chairman of the national defense committee. Soon he will be the former chairman, as Eesti 200 decided to replace him in the commission. Toomas Uibo will take his place.
Stoicescu compared his situation to Alar Laneman. Laneman moved from EKRE to the Reform Party due to disagreements with the party. Stoicescu said that Prime Minister Kallas called him and announced that his replacement was necessary to maintain the committee's oversight.
Stoicescu said he did not attend any Eesti 200 meetings for two months. No one from the party called him or spoke to him. He added that there were no serious disagreements between him and the party.
Stoicescu believes that Eesti 200's behavior showed why he left the party. He would have liked to remain as committee chairman, but Kallas was not in favor.
Prime Minister Michal and Defense Minister Pevkur hoped that Stoicescu could continue. But this did not happen. Riigikogu member Enn Eesmaa said that Stoicescu was a good leader, although he had some conflicts with party members.
Social Democrat Raimond Kaljulaid strongly criticized the decision. He asked whether Eesti 200 is following EKRE's example. He believes that the national defense committee should not be a place for party disputes.
Stoicescu is now moving to the rural life committee. He considers food and rural life essential for the people's well-being and security.
