The corporate summer sports festival started on the beach of Narva-Jõesuu. Over three days, there will be 27 sports disciplines. Among them are memory games and grilling. The most popular is stick horse riding, with nearly 400 people registered for this competition.
Ketlin Suvi, project manager of the Estonian Corporate Sports Association, says: "Stick horse riding is fun and exciting. It might be even more fun for spectators than for participants. It’s a sport that is fondly remembered and eagerly awaited every year."
Stick horse riding seems simple, but it’s difficult. Running on sand and overcoming obstacles is very tiring. It only takes about a minute, but it leaves you breathless.
Maret Mägi, one of the participants, says: "It’s different from regular running. It feels like a children’s game, but for adults, it’s a challenge. Overcoming obstacles in the sand is very difficult."
Taavi Palu, another participant, says: "I tried it for the first time. I’d never done it before. It’s popular because it doesn’t require special skills. Long legs are helpful."
The organizers believe that sporty employees are happier and more efficient. The summer sports festival in Narva-Jõesuu lasts until Sunday.
