Deputy Chairman of Eesti 200 Aleksei Jašin told ERR that coalition talks with the Reform Party are halfway through. He mentioned that a lot of work has been done on topics in various fields. Interest groups and experts are also involved.
Jašin clarified that the opinions of most interest groups have already been heard. He hopes that their opinions will be taken into account. This gives hope that the interest groups will be satisfied with the final coalition agreement.
Jašin emphasized that the future agreement will have more specifics. He said that for Eesti 200 it is important that the agreement does not just include general statements, but rather specific points.
Jašin added that sectoral agreements will be confirmed in about a month. This week, final working group discussions will take place. Later, the main representatives of the parties will participate in the discussion of the final points.
Jašin noted that the last weeks have been spent resolving disagreements. According to him, there are still topics where Eesti 200 and the Reform Party are not in agreement.
One of the disputes was about the topic of paid higher education. It was agreed that the first higher education must remain free. Other disputed topics concern mobility. For example, the Tallinn ring railway is being discussed in detail. Eesti 200 wants to promote rail transport, but the Reform Party thinks slightly differently on this topic.
ERR asked Jašin how long the coalition agreement is. Jašin replied that each field will have one or two pages. In total, there are 12 fields.
