The Transport Administration Wants to Measure the Average Speed on the Kuivastu-Kuressaare Route
Transpordiamet tahab mõõta keskmist kiirust Kuivastu-Kuressaare trassil, et parandada liiklusohutust. Eesti seadused ja raha ei võimalda seda veel teha.
The Transport Administration wants to measure the average speed on the Kuivastu-Kuressaare route to improve traffic safety. Estonian laws and funding do not yet allow this.
The Transport Administration wants to measure the average speed on the Kuivastu-Kuressaare route. This would help improve traffic safety. Estonian laws and funding do not yet allow this.
Average speed measurement is used in the Nordic countries and Latvia-Lithuania. In Estonia, it is not yet possible. Lack of funding prevents it.
This method is used more in Latvia. Those responsible for traffic safety in Estonia would also like to use it. It would help save lives.
The Transport Administration wants to measure speed along the entire Kuressaare-Kuivastu route. Speeds are often exceeded there.
Transport Administration expert Janno Vilberg says that measuring average speed would help increase safety. Currently, there is no funding for this.
Vilberg believes that such systems should be introduced on main highways. It could also be used on the Ääsmäe-Haapsalu section.
