In autumn, third grades moved to state gymnasiums. Now the schools are full. Pelgulinna and Mustamäe state gymnasiums have new buildings, but there are over a thousand students.
There are long queues during lunch breaks. Some students don't have time to eat. Raivo Trummal, an employee of the Ministry of Education, says that state gymnasiums in Tallinn are full. Every year, 360 more students are added. That's a lot.
The number of students has grown rapidly. Now it seems there is not enough space. Schools were built for so many students. But catering is difficult. Students want to eat right away. Schools are trying to explain how to behave in queues.
Schools have changed catering. For example, counters are longer and there are more pots. This helps to get food faster.
Mustamäe state gymnasium has ventilation problems. There are now 70 teachers in the teacher's room. In the music class, the choir sings and the air is bad. The school is dealing with this problem.
Pelgulinna state gymnasium has few rooms. There is a need for more help for students. The school is looking for solutions. For example, an architect will come to help improve the rooms.
After school, Pelgulinna school students cannot fit into the buses. The school and the city are cooperating to solve this problem.
Tartu state schools are also full. For example, Tartu Tamme Gymnasium may face a lack of space. Nõo Secondary School shares the cafeteria with the elementary school. This can create problems.
State gymnasiums are good places to study. The problems are not very big.
