The new Waste Act will come into force. In about 10 years, more waste will go into recycling.
The state will provide clear guidelines for waste sorting. Household waste bins will become simpler. Previous guidelines were confusing.
Some cities will start using the new system. For example, Narva, Rakvere, and Viljandi. Other cities can extend the old system, but the new one is better.
All cities must organize packaging and paper waste collection by 2031. The state will provide funding for the new system.
From July 1st, the prices for waste incineration and landfilling will change. Incineration will cost 60 euros per ton. Landfilling will cost 90 euros. This makes recycling more affordable.
Waste incineration and landfilling must be more expensive. Then more people will sort waste. Returning packaging will cost 50 cents.
Starting next year, the new PISTRIK information system will be launched. It will simplify the work of companies. The system can already be tested now.
