The Ida-Virumaa Tourism Cluster started hospitality training last autumn. Now, hospitality badges have been awarded to 18 of the best tourism companies. These companies strive to welcome their guests exceptionally warmly.
A hospitable host is marked by a badge shaped like a golden heart. However, the visitor primarily notices the warm welcome. It is hoped that the visitor will be greeted with a smile everywhere. They will be informed about the sights of the region. Perhaps interesting stories will be shared. The guest should feel welcome.
Hospitality is elementary tourism service. However, there is always room for improvement. The hospitality badge could be a quality mark of service. For example, in a restaurant, it is important that the food is tasty. But what is remembered is rather the feeling of how one was treated. Such special experiences are what is being aimed for.
The hospitality badges were mainly awarded to Ida-Viru spas and accommodation companies. There are fewer catering establishments. Ida-Virumaa could have more caterers. They do not have to be fancy restaurants. Rather, they should be homely places offering authentic experiences.
The Ida-Viru Tourism Cluster hopes that tourists who visit hospitable places will provide abundant feedback. The next hospitality badges will be awarded in a year.
