Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna (Eesti 200) forgot his tablet on a plane. The ministry's press representative Kerstin Meresma says that this is not a big problem. There was no confidential information on the tablet.
Meresma said that the tablet was usually used for taking notes. The ministry does not use mobile devices that contain state secrets. Therefore, the loss is not dangerous.
It often happens to diplomats that devices are temporarily lost sight of. This happens due to human error. If an employee loses a device, they must report it immediately. Tsahkna did this correctly.
Meresma added that the ministry's devices are secure. Hard drives are encrypted and can be managed remotely. If necessary, the data can be erased.
The ministry does not specify exactly how lost devices are checked. However, an employee must always report if a device goes missing. Then the device's location and status are checked. If the device is found, it is brought in for inspection.
On Tuesday, Tsahkna wrote on social media that he forgot his tablet on a plane. This happened when he was flying from Madrid to Amsterdam. Fortunately, a stewardess found the tablet and returned it.
