According to Karel Hanni, Head of Public Relations at Luminor, Luminor will continue with the old system. First, the money is given, and then the card. Hanni said that they have considered changing the order, but the percentage of forgotten cards is not significant.
They also believe that changing the order could increase the risk of forgetting the money. Therefore, both approaches have their pros and cons.
SEB ATMs also first give money and then the card. SEB does not plan to change this system. Evelin Koplimäe from SEB explained that taking the card last supports the usage logic.
Many customers want to perform other tasks at the ATM after receiving money. For this, the card is necessary.
As of March 2025, there are 664 ATMs in Estonia. Swedbank will change the operation of its ATMs on July 1st. Their ATMs will first give the card and then the money. Swedbank aims to reduce the number of forgotten cards with this change.
