Prime Minister Kristen Michal said he is worried about Tallinn's security. He believes that the cooperation between Isamaa and the Center Party is problematic. Michal spoke on a radio program, saying he is disturbed by what is happening in Tallinn.
Michal pointed out that the Center Party has collaborated with Oleg Bessedin. Bessedin is suspected of crimes against the state. The Tallinn city government has paid him 800,000 euros over the years. Michal said this is a major problem.
The Prime Minister also talked about the example of Romania. A report was made there on how the elections were influenced. Michal said that Russia used the same tactics in Moldova. The Baltic states are particularly important for Russia. Michal believes that influence operations are a significant problem here.
Michal noted that Mihhail Kõlvart has helped Oleg Bessedin raise money. He said this is a very bad story. The Prime Minister believes that Estonian citizens with Russian as their native language are mostly Estonian patriots. But Bessedin is not one of them.
Michal said that Bessedin used social media to create a divide between Estonians and Russians. The Prime Minister believes this is a major problem. He said that the Center Party's support among Russian-speaking people could be an issue.
Michal made a post on social media where he wrote Isamaa's name in Cyrillic letters. He said this was related to the Center Party's election promises. Michal believes it is important to point out the Kremlin's influence.
The Prime Minister said he does not intend to remain silent when he sees problems. He said his conscience guides him. Michal also talked about his struggle with the Tallinn city government. He said the Estonian flag is now in the city council hall thanks to his efforts.
Michal said he will continue to fight against Bessedin and people like him. He believes that Estonian society needs to address these problems.
