The Information System Authority (RIA) knows that young people change their personal data online.
They use the state portal Eesti.ee to make themselves appear older. This helps them get into nightclubs.
Programmer Krister Viirsaar said that in a browser, you can change the text displayed on the screen. But nothing changes in the database.
Minors can change their date of birth and show it to the bouncer. The bouncer may not realize that the data is false.
Changing the data can take just 10 seconds. It is easy to do and is not hacking.
Möku bar owner Veiko Raime said that bouncers also accept the Eesti.ee portal. However, most still ask for a physical document.
RIA stated that Eesti.ee is intended only for viewing data. It is not a document that verifies identity.
The Eesti app can be used for identity verification. There, you cannot change your age yourself. But bars are not obligated to accept it.
If a person does not show a document, the bar may refuse to let them in.
The owner of Möku bar believes that the problem lies in poor communication with bouncers. They do not always know the difference between Eesti.ee and the Eesti app.
