The Estonian Orthodox Church gave items to Pärnu Church. These items are made of silver and gilded. The items were from Laiuse Church in Jõgevamaa.
40 years ago, Laiuse Church was closed. The church was in good condition. It did not need repairs. The congregation was active. But the church was closed.
The large items were taken to Vasknarva. The smaller items remained with priest Ermil Allik. He served in Laiuse and Kaarepere churches.
The items were kept in a cabinet in Kaarepere Church. They were not used. The items waited for their time.
Laiuse Church entrusted its belongings to Pärnu Church for safekeeping. Laiuse Church has not been restored. Only the tower remains.
The items were given to Pärnu Church because Metropolitan Aleksander Paulus served as a priest both there and in Laiuse.
Pärnu Church's senior priest Ardalion Keskküla said they will take the items for safekeeping. The items will remain in Pärnu Church. The hope for the church's restoration remains.
