"Here you can be with friends and all work together," said work camp member Doris Renter. "I don't really like weeding, but it's a job that needs to be done," added Mirtel Lees.
Many young people came to the work camp to earn pocket money. "I think 200 euros is a good salary," said Andre Tšepokaite.
Koigi group leader Saima Kams said that young people want to be useful. "Even weeding is real work. We don't do it just for looks. The children are doing serious work," said Kams.
In Koigi, the student work camp members weeded the playground and removed unnecessary items from the sand.
In Järva municipality, 104 students are working this summer. Their salary is paid by the municipality. The head of the municipal student work camp, Aune Suve-Kütt, said they have also found private entrepreneurs who want to provide work for children.
"It's not easy, but we are looking for suitable jobs for young people. Not every job is suitable for young people," said Suve-Kütt.
This year, there are 236 student work camp places in three municipalities of Järva County.
