The Legal Affairs Committee is amending the consent law. The new law states: sex without consent is rape.
The chairman of the committee said the law needs improvement. He said it will help victims.
The committee decided that consent has four characteristics. Consent must be informed, voluntary, clear, and maintained at all times.
The committee also changed the definition of a sexual act. A sexual act includes intercourse and other sexual activities.
The law will enter into force on January 1, 2027.
The committee will send the bill for a second reading on June 3. The final vote will be on June 10.
