Fortaco opened a new plant in the Narva industrial park
Narva metallitöötlusettevõtted laiendavad oma tootmist. Fortaco avas uue tehase Narva tööstuspargis.
Metal processing companies in Narva are expanding their production. Fortaco has opened a new plant in the Narva industrial park.
Fortaco Estonia already has over 400 employees in Narva. New customers demanded expansion and modernization of production. However, there was no space for this in the city center, so a new plant was built in the industrial park.
The expansion cost 16 million euros. The Just Transition Fund provided two million euros in support for the purchase of production lines. The decision to build the plant was made in 2023 when the market was down.
Fortaco Estonia CEO Larissa Šabunova said: 'We made the decision and started investing. The market began to decline slightly, so there was no rush. Now the market is rising, and we are ready for growth. The decline was sometimes helpful.'
Another major Narva metal company, HANZA Mechanics, is also considering building a new plant. They expanded their production two years ago. However, finding employees is difficult.
HANZA Mechanics Narva plant manager Juhan Terasmaa said: 'We would like to expand further. Logistics and automation are developing rapidly. However, it is difficult to find qualified employees. The labor market competition in Ida-Viru County is strong.'
Currently, 30 people work at Fortaco's new plant. By the end of the year, 80 people should be working there in three shifts.
