The Estonian Research Council (ETAG) is looking for a new leader. Applications are open and will close on August 25. The new leader will be appointed by October at the latest. Their term will begin on April 1, 2026.
The competition is organized by Fontes PMP together with the ETAG council. Council chairman Renno Veinthal says there are already interested candidates. The recruitment partner will soon inform the council about the progress of the competition.
The main tasks of the new leader will be representing the agency and engaging with science. The responsibilities will depend on the needs of the research system.
The current leader Anu Noorma will not run again. She said she informed the council of her decision. Noorma believes she has contributed enough over five years.
The competition announcement states that candidates must have a doctoral degree. They must have at least five years of experience leading a major institution. The job is based in Tartu and requires being there at least four days a week.
ETAG was established on March 1, 2012. Its goal is to organize the funding of research and development activities. The Archimedes research cooperation center was also merged with ETAG. ETAG's mission is to support science and innovation.
