Isamaa chairman Urmas Reinsalu said that if Ülle Madise becomes president, she will have to appoint a new chancellor of justice.
Madise's position as chancellor of justice will end when she becomes president. After that, she will have to propose a new candidate to the Riigikogu.
Reinsalu said that the president must propose a new candidate within four months. Until a new chancellor of justice is elected, an acting chancellor will perform the duties.
Madise said that she wants to find a good and wise lawyer as the new chancellor of justice. She emphasized that this is important.
The chairman of the Center Party, Mihhail Kõlvart, wrote that the new chancellor of justice will be chosen by the Reform Party. Reinsalu disagreed with this.
Reinsalu said that Madise is not a coalition candidate. The coalition supported Madise independently.
Madise announced on Monday that she wants to become president. She said that the president must uphold Estonia's values.
