Tallinn is changing plans for the tram line in Pelgulinn. Deputy Mayor Kristjan Järvan says the new plans are not yet ready.
The previous government wanted to build the tram on Kolde Street. But people were against it. Now the decision has been made to change the plan.
Currently, the government is working on a new plan. The tram must be ready by 2029. Land is needed for the tram. Agreements with landowners have not yet been made.
Originally, the tram was supposed to run from Kopli Street via Ristiku and Sõle Streets to Puhangu Street. From there, the tram would reach Stroomi Beach.
The plan included renovating Puhangu Street. A new viaduct was to be built on Ristiku Street.
Some people are against the tram. They are afraid of noise. The Center Party collected 4000 signatures against the tram.
The European Union is providing funding for the tram. Tallinn will receive 20 million euros. In total, the funding exceeds 33 million euros.
