Järgmisel nädalal saab testida mobiiliga hääletamist
Next week, mobile voting can be tested
Riigi infosüsteemi amet (RIA) ja riigi valimisteenistus testivad uut mobiiltelefonide e-hääletamise rakendust.
The Estonian Information System Authority (RIA) and the state electoral service are testing a new mobile e-voting application.
RIA and the state electoral service are testing a new mobile e-voting application. The test will take place from May 20 to 22. During the test, people can try voting and receive feedback.
Alo Einla, the head of RIA, says that the technical solution is almost ready. Now it needs to be carefully tested. The purpose of testing is to check the reliability and usability of the application.
Arne Koitmäe, the head of the state electoral service, says that testing is important to decide whether the application is suitable for use in elections. The Riigikogu provided the legal basis for this a year ago.
The application works on mobile phones just like on computers. Everyone aged 15 and above can test it. An electronic identity and a smartphone with iOS or Android are required. Authentication is done via an ID card, Mobile-ID, or Smart-ID.
After testing, users can provide feedback. During the test, people can playfully choose a historical event they would like to participate in.
The application will be available from 9:00 AM on May 20 until 8:00 PM on May 22. After voting, it is possible to check the delivery of the vote using another smart device.
