During excavation works in North Tallinn, many old explosive devices were found. The Rescue Board explains what to do if you find a suspicious object.

The Rescue Board's deminers were called to Lahesuu harbor. During excavation works, 880 explosive devices were found underground. These were naval shells from the tsarist era.
The excavator operator noticed strange objects in the soil. He informed the site manager. The site manager called 112. The deminers arrived on the scene.
A large hole was dug. From there, 880 old shells were found. The shells were of different sizes – from 75 mm to 152 mm.
The explosive devices were taken to East Estonia. There are better conditions for their destruction there.
There is more excavation in the spring. This means more explosive devices will be found. The Rescue Board says: explosive devices are different. They are not easy to recognize.
If you find something suspicious:
1. Call 112 immediately
2. Do not touch the object
3. Keep others away
4. Mark the location (e.g., with your phone)
The Rescue Board says: if the object is not dangerous, you will not be fined. It is always better to call.
