Ferry Amalie is small, but it has resumed sailing between Hiiumaa and Saaremaa.
After a week's break, Amalie made its first trips. The ship will remain on the route until at least May 17th.
If the route is interrupted, residents of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa can travel via the mainland at a reasonable price.
On its first trip, Amalie transported four cars from Hiiumaa to Saaremaa and five cars back.
Hiiumaa municipality mayor Hergo Tasuja said that the interruption of the route affects the daily lives of the islanders.
The Regional Ministry is working on a solution so that residents of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa can travel affordably even if the route is interrupted.
