Central Criminal Police suspect Glebova of a crime
Keskkriminaalpolitsei korruptsioonikuritegude büroo kahtlustab Tondiraba jäähalli juhi Elena Glebovat toimingupiirangu rikkumises ja soodustuskelmuses.
The Central Criminal Police's corruption crimes bureau suspects Tondiraba Ice Hall director Elena Glebova of violating restrictions on transactions and preferential fraud.
On Thursday, officials from the Central Criminal Police filed a suspicion against Tondiraba Ice Hall director Elena Glebova. According to the suspicion, the director made decisions and entered into contracts regarding the use of the sports center's halls with an NGO she was associated with. There is also suspicion that she submitted false information about coaching work to obtain preferential treatment.
The investigation is in its initial stages, and the suspicion may change. Glebova did not respond to ERR's call and turned her phone off. The Central Criminal Police's corruption crimes bureau is conducting a pre-trial investigation.
Prosecutor Olgerd Petersell said that public duties must be based on public interests. He stressed that decisions must be fair and transparent. The head of the corruption crimes bureau, Aivar Sepp, added that this is a serious case where a director has used their official position for personal gain.
Glebova is a former figure skater and has been the director of Tondiraba Ice Hall since 2014. She is also a member of the board of the Estonian Skating Union. Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski said that the Glebova case demonstrates the corrupt system of the Centre Party in Tallinn. According to Ossinovski, the city government initiated a major reform last year to reorganize the management of sports centers.
