The Tallinn Administrative Court did not satisfy the complaint of MEP Jaak Madison. Madison wanted the ERJK decision regarding the reimbursement of his campaign expenses to be annulled.
The ERJK ordered Madison to repay 14,900 euros. This money was spent on advertising for an event held at the Solaris shopping center cinema. The ERJK believes this event was election advertising.
The court found that this money should have been used in the European Parliament election campaign. Therefore, it could not be paid from prohibited donations. Madison's European Parliament faction paid for the event. Now Madison has to repay them this money.
Madison said he does not agree with the court's decision. He may appeal the complaint further. He believes there is political influence in the court's decisions.
According to Madison, it is difficult to understand why the court evaluated the colors of the advertisement. He asked whether blue or red color is better. He joked that perhaps he was secretly campaigning for the Social Democrats.
The court also did not seek assistance from the European Court of Justice. Madison does not understand why this was not done. He said he wants clarity. He and other MEPs are dissatisfied with ERJK decisions.
The court decision is not yet final. The procedural costs were borne by the complainants.
