The Supreme Court ruled that Tõnis Rihvk, Vjatšeslav Leedo, and Lennart Viikmaa are guilty. They caused financial difficulties for Saaremaa Laevakompanii. Therefore, they must serve two months in prison.
The court found that before their actions, the shipping company had money. The bank had nearly 5.5 million euros, and the ships were worth four million. After their transactions, the money was gone, and the company became insolvent.
Rihvk and Leedo were sentenced to two years and six months in prison. Lennart Viikmaa received one year and six months. The sentences were suspended. Later, the circuit court changed the sentences. They must now serve two months in prison.
The court explained that the bankruptcy of Saaremaa Laevakompanii does not change their guilt. Although the company has now partially repaid its debts, this does not reduce their responsibility. Companies controlled by Leedo have repaid part of the debts.
Vjatšeslav Leedo said he disagrees with the court's decision. He plans to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. Leedo believes an unfair decision has been made against him. He thinks the punishment is too harsh and the process was not fair.
