Hedi Arukas is the new Deputy Chancellor for Work and Equality. She previously worked at the Ministry of the Interior. Her job is to help the labor market and ensure equality at work.

Arukas has extensive experience in the public sector. She has worked in the judicial system and in the field of internal security. She has helped establish a crisis helpline and developed hazard alerts.
Arukas studied law at the University of Tartu. She also has a second higher education in change management. She will start her new position on September 1, 2026.
