Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna signed the decision. The sanction applies to two individuals. They did wrong. They violated international law. They damaged Estonia's sovereignty. They did not respect democracy and human rights.
Tsahkna said: "Our people must not be persecuted." The sanction applies to prosecutor Lyudmila Balandina and judge Dmitry Gordeev.
Tsahkna stated that Balandina and Gordeev are guilty of persecuting the director of the Narva Museum. He said: "Both have spread Russian propaganda. They have violated freedom of speech and human rights."
The sanction will take effect from Wednesday. It will prohibit them from traveling to Estonia.
The Moscow court imprisoned the director of the Narva Museum in September. He will receive 10 years of imprisonment. Russian media said he spread lies about the Russian military.
