The EKRE faction of Pärnu City Council gathered on Friday. They discussed the coalition situation and Isamaa's proposal to start new talks.
EKRE Pärnumaa leader Valmar Veste said there are problems in the coalition. He said there is a lack of honesty and trust between partners. Without trust, it is difficult to continue cooperation.
Veste said that EKRE has tried to find solutions. However, city leader Kristel Voltenberg is telling the public things that are not true. This makes cooperation even more difficult.
In EKRE's opinion, the current coalition cannot govern the city well. Therefore, EKRE decided to start new talks with Isamaa.
On Friday, Isamaa proposed forming a new coalition with the Center Party and EKRE. Currently, the coalition has 22 votes out of 39. The new coalition would have 21 votes.
The coalition problems became public on Tuesday. City Council leader Andrei Korobeinik wrote that Voltenberg left a meeting. This interrupted the coalition discussions.
Korobeinik also accused the partner of violating the agreement. Voltenberg responded that the coalition has ended.
The coalition agreement was signed on October 24. According to it, Voltenberg should be mayor for two years. After that, an EKRE representative should take her place.
