20 applications were submitted for the position of a member of Eesti Kontsert's board.
These applications were received by the deadline. Next week, an interview round will take place with some selected candidates.
The chairman of Eesti Kontsert's supervisory board, Merle Põld, said that meetings will take place the week after next. She does not know exactly when the new leader will take office.
The current leader, Kertu Orro, will finish her work on November 7. It is not clear whether the new leader can start as early as November 8.
Eesti Kontsert has been in the public spotlight since the end of the summer. Orro led the organization for seven years.
On August 1, Orro submitted her resignation. She mentioned that the reason is a disagreement with the supervisory board and the Ministry of Culture.
The Ministry of Culture did not agree with Orro's accusations.
In early October, the head of the Cultural Endowment, Margus Allikmaa, said that Eesti Kontsert and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra could merge. He wondered whether Eesti Kontsert is even necessary.
The leaders of both institutions thought that this was intrigue and that they cannot be merged.
