Tallinn is starting the planning of the first stage of Pirita beach.
A new promenade, pedestrian paths, a playground, and lighting will be planned. New benches, bike racks, and toilets will also be added.
Information boards and pathways will be built near the beach to make it easier for visitors to move around. The natural landscape will remain unchanged.
The promenade will run between the forest and the sand. Trees will not be cut down to preserve the beautiful view of the sea and Tallinn.
The project was won in 2012 by a work titled "Väät". Its authors are Üllar Ambos, Pille Noole, Kaisa Lasner, and Ioannis Lykouras.
The project is funded by the Tallinn Environment and Public Works Department and Tallinna Vesi. The planning will take up to 9 months.
Construction will begin in 2028. The project cost is 173,160 euros.
