A natural playground is being built in the University of Tartu Botanical Garden, where children can play and learn.
A new playground is being built in the University of Tartu Botanical Garden. It will feature a mud kitchen, a play river, and a log tunnel. The playground is natural and exciting.
The playground is now very different. Before, there was sand and an old playhouse. Now there are mounds of soil and stones, tree trunks, and many people working. The play river and log tunnel are almost ready.
Sergei Põlme, the head of the botanical garden, says that this place is great for learning in nature. People need nature and movement. This playground provides an opportunity to play naturally and climb.
The playground will be completed in a couple of weeks. It was designed by landscape architects, but children also got to help. They participated in the creation of the playground.
Natural playgrounds help children's health and development. Cones and tree trunks develop children's creativity and teach them to recognize risks. This helps prepare them for the future.
Teachers say that more natural playgrounds are needed in the city. Children go to the forest or by the river to play. Those who play in nature usually don't want a playground.
The playground is being built in collaboration between the University of Tartu and the city. It costs 10,000–12,000 euros. The money comes from the city budget and projects.
