The Mulgi Municipal Council finalized the special planning and environmental impact assessment for wind farms. Three years ago, the municipality had no precise knowledge of what wind farms would bring.
The mayor of Mulgi, Dmitri Orav, said that the municipality has set a 70-megawatt limit on the capacity of wind farms for developers. This would be Mulgimaa's contribution to Estonia's green energy.
The chairman of the Mulgi Municipal Council, Imre Jugomäe, said that the state set goals but did not inform local municipalities or provide knowledge about wind energy.
Not all members of the municipal council supported the finalization of the special planning. Taimo Tugi found that the termination of the proceedings is not legally competent.
