ERJK head Liisa Oviir spoke to ERR. She said that the commission discussed Urmas Reinsalu's authorizations on Postimehes website at its latest meeting. The commission found that Reinsalu can freely present both his own and Isamaa's views and policies there. This may be a prohibited donation.
Oviir said that they asked clarifying questions. They want to know if payment has been made for it. They also want to know how the program is related to the editorial team. They are investigating how much the editorial team influences what Reinsalu must or could reflect. They want to know how much of it is his own free choice.
Urmas Reinsalu is the chairman of Isamaa. Since February, he has been hosting a program called „Shadow Government“ on Postimehes. Postimehes belongs to Isamaa's major donor, Margus Linnamäe.
Reinsalu told ERR in February that he does not receive money for hosting the program. Postimehes also does not receive money because Reinsalu hosts their program. Reinsalu said that this is not a prohibited donation.
Reinsalu added that he does not have an employment contract. He works for free. He is not sure who is the net winner in case of the program's success. Whether it is the newspaper, which has such a program for free, or not.
