Field islands are small forests on fields.
These islands form when stones are removed from fields. Plants grow there and animals live.
The University of Tartu used artificial intelligence to find field islands. The machine analyzed images and added 10,000 new islands. Previously, 30,000 islands were known.
Subsidies are paid for field islands. This helps farmers and nature.
The PRIA will receive the scientists' map. They want to use it in the future. Scientists want to study the islands using satellite data.
In the future, artificial intelligence may also find other things, such as hedges and stone fences.
