In Estonia, 25 people died due to domestic violence. Many perpetrators did not know what they were doing. Alcohol was involved in many cases.
The study included 25 cases. 27 people killed their families. Most were men. Half were Estonians, half were Russians.
The victims were often women. The youngest victim was 2 years old. The oldest was an 87-year-old woman.
Many perpetrators were drunk. Men were drunk in 13 cases. Women in 6 cases. Many had alcohol problems.
Some perpetrators did not remember what they did. They said: "It just happened."
Domestic violence is a serious problem. Some think it is normal. It is not normal. More help is needed.
