Isamaa chairman Urmas Reinsalu says Estonia should support the US and Israel's military mission against Iran. The Riigikogu Foreign Affairs Committee supported this position.
Reinsalu stated that the European Union's positions have been unclear. He wants Estonia to clearly express support for the US-Israel mission. Canada and Ukraine have already done so.
Reinsalu proposed that the government should take a clear position against Iran. The Minister of Foreign Affairs agreed and will discuss it with the Prime Minister.
Reinsalu said the Iranian regime poses a threat both to its own people and the entire region. If the mission leads to a regime change, it is significant. However, it may also bring risks.
Marko Mihkelson, chairman of the Riigikogu Foreign Affairs Committee, said Estonia and the European Union should support the US and Israel's operation. Iran has supported Russia in the war against Ukraine.
Mihkelson advised Estonian citizens in the Middle East to register on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. They can also call the emergency hotline at +372 5301 9999.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the US and Israel have shown that they stand against dangerous regimes. The Iranian people should have the opportunity to choose their own future.
