Members of the Social Democratic Party in the Riigikogu asked the Ministry of the Interior whether Estonian security agencies are investigating Epstein's documents. These documents may mention Estonia or Estonian citizens.
Former Kapo director Arnold Sinisalu said that it is necessary to investigate whether there are people in Estonia who could be blackmailed. This could pose a threat to national security.
Kapo bureau chief Harrys Puusepp told ERR that Epstein's documents are publicly available to everyone. Security agencies also gather information from public sources.
Puusepp said that mentions of Estonia in Epstein's documents do not indicate a threat to national security. However, assessing international security is difficult.
The Kapo bureau chief added that Kapo investigates activities that threaten national security. Currently, there is no reason to worry about information related to Estonia.
Latvian police announced that they are investigating human trafficking based on Epstein's documents. The document contains references to models working in Latvia.
Lithuania also launched an investigation into human trafficking because the documents contain references to Lithuanian models and artists.
Epstein was found dead in his prison cell in August 2019. Authorities said he committed suicide.
