The city of Tallinn will not renovate Liivalaia Street and the main street simultaneously. The city government agrees with the state. This is their joint decision.
The renovation of Liivalaia Street is challenging. The Ministry states that there are errors in Tallinn's plan. One of the errors concerns Deputy Mayor Pere's application. Pere wanted to renovate Liivalaia Street and the main street at the same time.
Mayor Ossinovski says that simultaneous renovation is not planned. The Ministry says that closing both streets at the same time is a bad idea. The city will first renovate Liivalaia Street.
The schedule is tight. The project has complex problems. The city has to do a lot of work to make the project successful. Deputy Mayor Järvan says that two major streets cannot be closed at the same time.
Järvan says it would be bad for people if the streets were closed for years. It cannot be done simultaneously. Money would be wasted. If the city center is closed, a big problem will arise. The renovation of Liivalaia Street will begin in spring 2027.
