About the Trade War and Trade
Peeter Luikmel räägib USA ja Euroopa tollisõjast ja selle mõjust.
Peeter Luikmel talks about the US and Europe trade war and its impact.
US President Trump has a plan. He wants higher taxes on European goods. This is a trade war. Financial markets are concerned. But it is not as bad as the coronavirus or the 2008 crisis.
Trump says that Europe is taking advantage of the USA. That's why he wants taxes. Luikmel says that these taxes are small. They are 1–3%.
Production is decreasing in the USA. Americans do not want low-wage jobs. They want to work in services. The pay is higher there.
Trump wants to bring industry back. But there are not enough people in the USA. Workers from other countries would be needed. But this is against Trump's plans.
The US dollar may weaken. Then US people will pay more for goods. Taxes may reduce this. But the rich will pay more. Poor countries will suffer the most.
