The Ministry of the Environment commissioned a name for the new nature house. They paid €4340 for it. Experts from the communication bureau Miltton chose the name.
The name became Taru. This name fits well because the house speaks about the relationship between humans and nature. Taru also means beehive. It is a symbol of collaboration between humans and nature.
Before this, many name options were considered. Names of other nature houses from Estonia and abroad were examined. Eventually, Taru was chosen.
Taru is a special building. It is not just a nature house. It also has a museum, a restaurant, and a place for conferences. The house has about 570 workspaces.
The house will open in autumn. In 2027, the nature museum will open its doors there. Everyone can come to visit.
The construction of the house costs €54.3 million. The construction company is Nordecon. The house was designed by the architecture bureau Kavakava.
Initially, it was planned that the Climate Ministry would also be in the house. However, the ministry did not move there. Now a new tenant is being sought.
