The Tartu District Court extended the deadline for the court decision regarding Parvel Pruunsild and Priit Humal until January 30, 2026. Judge Tiit Lõhmus wrote that the deadline was December 5, but it has now been extended.
On February 11, 2024, the Tartu County Court acquitted Parvel Pruunsild and Priit Humal. They were involved in the sale of the ERM exhibition building. The court acquitted them of charges related to the violation of a transaction restriction and aiding in it. The state had to pay Humal 93,000 euros and Pruunsild 192,000 euros.
The prosecution disagreed with the county court's decision. On May 2, they announced that they would appeal the decision. They contested the acquittal and the reimbursement of legal costs. They also claimed that the county court used inadmissible evidence.
Priit Humal is Isamaa's candidate for Deputy Mayor of Tartu. On Thursday, the Tartu City Council will decide whether to elect him to the position. Humal said that even if he is found guilty, he does not intend to resign. He stated that he will take the dispute to the Supreme Court.
Urmas Klaas, who is likely to become Mayor of Tartu again, said that if Humal is found guilty, it is hard to imagine that he can remain a member of the city government.
